Eat Like a Kid Again

Do you remember what it was like to eat as a kid? If your experience was anything like mine, I lived off of powdered donuts for breakfast and ice cream after dinner. I also liked apples, carrots, and chicken nuggets. I genuinely enjoyed food and didn't have to think too much about eating. My body would tell me when I was hungry (I would usually get pretty cranky...) and my body would also tell me when I was full. Some days kids eat more and other days they eat less. Kids don't need calorie tracking apps to dictate how much they can or should eat. The cool thing is that our bodies are really good at telling us what we need and what we like. Wouldn't it be nice to not have to think about it again? The idea of "play food", which I learned from intuitive eating allows food to be fun. Imagine your friend wants to go out for ice cream, and you're not really hungry, but ice cream sounds good. It's okay to go get the ice cream! Remember, if given the freedom, kids are the best intuitive eaters. What can you do to be more like a kid today?
